Today: Lesbian Visibility Day 2022 during inaugural Lesbian Visibility Week

Monday, April 25, 2022-Sunday, May 1, 2022 is the inaugural Lesbian Visibility Week with April 26th, 2022 being Lesbian Visibility Day, which has been around since 2008. GLADD along with many other companies have backed a UK publisher, DIVA Magazine, in the creation of the first Lesbian Visibility Week. This week aims “BOTH TO celebrate lesbians and show solidarity with all LGBTQI women and non binary people in our community. We believe in unity, and lifting up those who are most marginalised” (https://www.lesbianvisibilityweek.com).

DIVA magazine has set up a website full of information regarding this week as well as having a series of events. Their website explains, “It is essential that Lesbian Visibility Week is a voice for unity and lifts up ALL women, especially those who come from marginalised communities. Recent research (Pride Matters survey, conducted by Pride In London 2018) has shown that gay women are almost twice as unlikely to be out in the workplace as gay male colleagues” (https://www.lesbianvisibilityweek.com).
