SUNY Statement on Mask Requirement

“We know that students prefer an in-person learning experience, and their mental health and social lives suffer when learning is fully remote. Through masking and safety protocols still in place, in-person education continues to be possible across our campuses. SUNY will continue to universally include indoor masking for all individuals on campus at this time, regardless of vaccination status, but will establish a path for campuses to lift the mask requirement in consultation with their local health departments.” — State University of New York

SUNY will issue its criteria for lifting the mask requirement as soon as next week. Updates will be shared as they become available.

Led by our Public Safety and Health Services teams, MCC works diligently to ensure the safest possible learning and working environment. To continue keeping the MCC community safe and to prevent outbreaks of COVID-19 at campuses and sites, wearing a well-fitting mask inside all MCC buildings* is still required.

Face shields are available for those with qualifying medical accommodations. Students needing accommodations should contact Counseling and Disability Services. Employees needing accommodations should contact Human Resources.

Thank you for your cooperation.

* Exceptions: Some offsite locations—such as Rochester Arc + Flame and those coordinated by the Public Safety Training Facility—may follow different guidelines due to the nature of instruction.
