Passing of George Glasser

I regret to inform you that longtime MCC employee George Glasser passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002. He was 79.

George came to MCC in 1962 as our business manager and retired in 1983 as vice president for administrative affairs. Twice he served as interim president of Monroe Community College, in 1973 following the death of President LeRoy V. Good and in 1980 between Presidents Moses S. Koch and Peter A. Spina.

George set the standard in financial management. In the college's early days, he required departments to justify every line item. It was his attention to detail that earned this college a reputation for sound financial management. George also saw MCC through its move from Alexander Street to the Brighton Campus, and financially presided over first a new and then a rapidly growing college.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to 1946.

George is survived by his wife Marjorie and his five daughters.

Service arrangements are not known at this time. We will pass that information along when it becomes available.
