Five Laws to Guide Your Career

10am-1130am

Presenter: John Delate (Associate Vice President, Student Services)

This interactive workshop will explore principles championed by Michael Murdock and discuss how they correlate to an individual's career development and personal growth. The session is scheduled for 90 minutes to allow participants to deeply explore their career and life paths.

Refining Your Mission: Self-Assessment for Career Fulfillment

1130am-1230pm

Presenter: John Delate (Associate Vice President, Student Services)

This hands-on workshop will allow attendees to complete a career planning self-assessment of their skills, values, and dreams. While attending the first session on Five Laws is not required, the two programs supplement each other and help attendees formulate short- and long-term career aspirations. Whether an individual is looking to reimagine their current role, seek new opportunities, or envision the next phase of life after retirement, this workshop will help refine one's vision for the future.

Planning Your Promotion

1pm-2pm

Presenter: Marjorie Crum (Visual and Performing Arts)

Are you ready to move ahead at MCC? How do you know what to include and how to place it in your promotional packet? Come hear what some MCC employees do to present a comprehensive packet that gets notice for both the content and how it's presented. How do I show scholarship, teaching and service--and get the promotion? Promotion is done methodically, strategically, and with enough time to tick all the boxes, fill out all the statements and forms, and gather all the required artifacts. A key factor is to have quantifiable outcomes. Knowing what the difference between service to the department and service to the college is as important as what you do for all. Making sure your documents are fact-based and reflect the institutional culture is as equally important as what is included. Learn to reflect that which is best to include; showing the college that you are a content expert and that you love to work with students. Come learn what to put into your packet and get rewarded for all your hard work.
