MCC AmeriCorps Highlighted at Conference

Marilyn Rosche, Director of the Rochester AmeriCorps program based at the Damon City Campus, was the October 19 luncheon speaker at the NYS AmeriCorps Project Directors Training held this week at the Radisson Riverside. The session, conducted at the request of the NY Council on the Humanities, focused on the program’s experience with the Meaning of Service discussion series. Rochester AmeriCorps was the first program in the state selected by the Council to conduct this civic engagement discussion series and is now in its fifth year of participation. This year the discussion sessions, held monthly with the Rochester program’s 45 current AmeriCorps members, is being facilitated by Bill Dunning, of MCC’s English/ Philosophy Department. As the program has expanded to AmeriCorps programs across the state, Rosche has played a lead role in training and advising other programs regarding the project’s value and impact.
