COVID-19 Testing Required for Students with On-Campus Presence

* Faculty and Staff, Please be aware of and help reinforce the following information that is being communicated to students. This information is also posted in the MCC Student Tribune.

Dear New and Returning Students,

We look forward to welcoming you to campus for the spring semester. Protecting your health and well-being remains MCC’s foremost priority.

The rapid spread of the omicron variant has led to changes in SUNY and MCC guidance around COVID testing during the first two weeks of the semester for all students attending classes on MCC’s Downtown Campus, Brighton Campus, and/or the Applied Technologies Center, and for students participating in on-campus activities or services.

A COVID-19 test at MCC's Pooled Testing Center (oral, saliva-based test) is required for students who plan to be on campus during the spring semester by Feb. 3. All students who will attend classes on-campus – regardless of vaccination status – must complete a COVID-19 test at MCC’s Pooled Testing Center at least once within a two-week period between Monday, Jan. 24, through Thursday, Feb. 3, to avoid facing disciplinary actions consistent with MCC’s Code of Conduct. The testing requirement does not apply to students taking all classes online or remotely and those having no plans to visit campus for any reason.

Test results from another provider or a home testing kit will not be accepted during this two-week period.

If you recently tested positive for COVID-19, you must wait 90 days before participating in MCC pooled testing. Please immediately notify MCC Health Services (healthsvc@monroecc.edu) and the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (studentrights@monroecc.edu) of your positive test result.

Steps toward completing a COVID-19 test at MCC:

Step 1 – Register online to participate in MCC's free COVID-19 testing at the Brighton Campus. Information on how to prepare for the test is available on MCC’s Pooled COVID-19 Testing web page.

Step 2 – Select a date/time based on your last name to complete testing (see schedule below). All testing sessions are held in the Flynn Campus Center on the Brighton Campus (check in at the Forum, 3-130). No appointment is needed. Please make sure to plan about 15 minutes for the process.
