President's Wednesday Message

One of the Internet memes that has been going around this summer is the "I'm so Rochester ..." tagline. As I write this message sitting in the Delta terminal at JFK waiting for the flight back home after my first New York Power Authority board meeting, my inclination is to complete that sentence this way: "I'm so Rochester I can predict the gate assignments for flights into Rochester from most major airline hubs." However, given that we're about to turn the corner into August, let me offer some summer thoughts from a five year resident: "I'm so Rochester ..."

"... my family has Seabreeze season passports and argues about whether to eat at Don's Original or Vic and Irv's."

"... we have a badminton net in our front yard and light up shuttlecocks so we can play after dark."

"... I've memorized the distance from Fairhaven Beach to Orbakers."

"... I vote for Teddy each week on So You Think You Can Dance."

"... my family's played Glow Golf in Greece."

"... we've ordered both fried dough and funnel cake at the Vintage Drive In because they are completely different foods."

"... we look forward to original chicken nuggets, hot beef sundaes, free ice cold milk and chocolate covered bacon at the NY State Fair."

Okay, that last two may signal "I'm so hungry ..." rather than "I'm so Rochester ..." but you get the idea. In the spirit of summer, what "I'm so Rochester" would you share? Let me know on the blog.
