Congratulations to Jorge Alas

Please join us in congratulating Jorge Alas on his placement to the Fulbright Specialist Roster!

For a three year period, Fulbright Specialist Roster Candidates are eligible to be matched with projects designed by host institutions in over 140 countries. This is a unique opportunity for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in two-to six-week consultancies in a range of disciplines at host institutions. Through collaborative projects, Fulbright Specialists share their expertise, strengthen institutional linkages, hone their skills, gain international experience, and learn about other cultures while building capacity at their overseas host institutions. Activities conducted by Fulbright Specialists may include, but are not limited to:

* Delivering a seminar or workshop
* Consulting on faculty or workforce development
* Developing academic or training curricula and materials
* Lecturing at the graduate or undergraduate level
* Conducting needs assessment or evaluations for a program or institution

Professor Alas has extensive teaching experience at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels. While at MCC, Professor Alas has worked on collaborations with faculty from the Universidad de Colima in Mexico and the Fundación Universitaria Tecnológico Comfenalco in Colombia. Also at MCC, Professor Alas planned and led study abroad courses and has consistent involvement in committees and taskforces such as World Languages & Cultures Departmental Assessment, Global Education and International Services Advisory Council, and the Internationalization Task Force. He is nationally recognized for his excellent teaching by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) from the University of Texas and is a Fellow for the Latin America Academy Fellow Mexico-USA Multistate Collaboration Online International Learnings (COIL) Program. Professor Alas is well deserving of this honor and we are excited to see what adventures await him in the future!
