Barbara Reak, Dental Hygiene Retiree

MCC mourns the recent loss of Barbara A. Reak, who retired as secretary in the Department of Dental Hygiene in 1992.

According to her obituary, a funeral Mass was held earlier this month. She is survived by her husband, Norman; children Tim (Ellen) and Tom (Camille); a granddaughter; two siblings; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her family asks that contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.

Ms. Reak began her career at MCC in 1978 as a clerk in the Admissions Office and was promoted the following year. Devoted to serving the Dental Hygiene Department and Admissions Office for much of her career, she was often recognized for her enthusiasm, good judgment, dependability and thoroughness. Her positive outlook and ready smile were known to brighten the most hectic days. Under her guidance, student aides gained valuable experience, as expressed in gratitude letters they sent her.

After serving the College for 14 years, Ms. Reak retired as a full-time secretary in 1992. Shortly after, she assumed a part-time position as a clerk in the Admissions Office until 1998. Ms. Reak attended MCC and Nazareth College.

We are grateful for Ms. Reak’s dedication and service to MCC and our students for two decades. She will be dearly missed.
