MCC Co-Hosts Information Technology Security Conference


Monroe Community College and iSECURE, LLC hosted an Information Technology (IT) Security Symposium & Expert Panel Conference in the Forum on November 6, 2013.  Attendance included 70 participants from colleges, universities and private industry within New York state.  Vice President Jeff Bartkovich provided the MCC Welcome. Javier Ayala, Dean of Career Technical Education presented MCC’s IT Security Program.  Rory Butler, Professor, Information and Computer Technologies, and James Clement, Associate Director, CNS, served on the panel sharing their thoughts on today’s security issues and how they’ve approached them.  Ted Phelps, SUNY Chief Information Security Officer, held a post-symposium briefing on SUNY Initiatives and provided a historical review and current perspective on IT security practices within SUNY.  Ted is retiring after working 27 years, 18 for our intercampus network, SUNYNet, and 10 for information security.  He was recognized at the event for having made a significant contribution and demonstrating a continued commitment to support cyber security activities in New York state.  Many thanks to Donna Pogroszewski, Director, CNS, for working with iSECURE to plan and host this successful IT Security Conference.
