"Many STEM jobs don't require a four-year degree"


The ways MCC helps strengthen the STEM pipeline -- including our Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP), optics technology program, and community partnerships -- were highlighted in the July 5 Democrat and Chronicle feature, "Many STEM jobs don't require a four-year degree," written by Bennett Loudon. The article was prompted by a recent Brookings Institute report that states "In the Rochester area, there are about 98,200 STEM jobs, which accounts for about 21 percent of the total local labor pool..

Interviews with MCC Provost Michael McDonough and alumnus Sam Ezzezew, production manager at Sydor Optics, are featured in the article.
