Dr. Mary Ann Matta DeMario's research is recognized as one of the top research findings of 2018!

The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR) recognized the analysis of student parent data conducted by MCC's institutional researcher Dr. Mary Ann Matta DeMario as one of the top 10 research findings of 2018! The data showed that parents of young children who used MCC's on-campus child care center had an on-time graduation rate that was more than three times higher than similar parents who did not utilize the center.

Governor Cuomo's 2020 budget proposal also cites Dr. DeMario's research, calling for a pilot intervention program to provide supports for single parents attending SUNY and CUNY community colleges. We'll be following the development of this pilot program as we explore ways to support parents who are pursuing a higher education at MCC. Congratulations, Mary Ann!
