<p>The Counseling Center and Disability Services Office is in the process of testing&nbsp;two new assistive technology software programs from TextHelp. Faculty, staff, and students will be able to download the software programs, Read&amp; Write and EquatIO, for free and the trial ends May 14th. Our office has shared this information with our students and we are asking that you also share this information with your students.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In this current modality of instruction, students are completing exams online in multiple platforms (Zoom, Respondus, MyMCC, etc.) and this directly impacts how students with disabilities use various assistive technology software programs. We are asking you to trial the software program(s) with your courses to determine how these programs directly interface with your exams, and overall course.&nbsp;We are hoping to eliminate any challenges students with disabilities may face when they use assistive technology programs. For example, specific lock-down browsers are not compatible with assistive technology programs. We are hoping to gather feedback, as this directly impacts students who use assistive technology programs.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Read&amp;Write</strong> is a text-to-speech software that can be used for:</p>

<ul>
<li>Reading online content and documents</li>
<li>Proofreading and converting documents into MP3 files for listening</li>
<li>Built in advance spell checker and word prediction tool</li>
<li>Screen masking capability to help with concentration</li>
<li>Scanning paper copies into a digital file (if a scanner is connected)</li>
<li>Talk to type feature</li>
<li>Built-in highlighter for reading</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>EquatIO</strong> is a math accessibility software that can be used for:</p>

<ul>
<li>Making math digital</li>
<li>Creating mathematical equations, formulas and quizzes</li>
<li>Dictating formulas aloud, and the software will type it</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>How Do I Download Read&amp;Write and EquatIO for free?</strong></p>

<li>Select, &ldquo;YES&rdquo; I have a product code and use the product code provided. <strong>Enter your Product Code:&nbsp;GEALQ7WY.</strong></li>
<li>Select what program you want to download and what platform(s) you wish to install the product on.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<ol>
<li>Note: You can download programs on a computer, laptop, iPad, or tablet, and the products can be used with the Google Chrome Extension.</li>
<li>If you are only looking to download the math accessibility tool, click EquatIO only.</li>
</ol>

<li>For the license type, click the <strong>unlimited</strong> licenses and click continue.</li>
<li>For Authentication, choose <strong>Ofice 365.</strong></li>
<li>You will now be able to download the product. Click on the necessary links (download for Windows, etc).</li>
<li>You do not need to create a username or password with Read&amp;Write or EquatIO. If you are promoted to login, enter your MCC email and password.</li>

Feedback Needed: New Assistive Technology Programs (Read&Write and EquatIO)

  2. Select, “YES” I have a product code and use the product code provided. Enter your Product Code: GEALQ7WY.
  3. Select what program you want to download and what platform(s) you wish to install the product on.    
    1. Note: You can download programs on a computer, laptop, iPad, or tablet, and the products can be used with the Google Chrome Extension.
    2. If you are only looking to download the math accessibility tool, click EquatIO only.
  4. For the license type, click the unlimited licenses and click continue.
