In an Election Year, we need to understand the ISMs
UNDERSTANDING THE "ISMS"
Understanding terms like Socialism, Nationalism, Fascism and Populism
It's hard enough to sort out what common terms like conservatism and liberalism mean. Now there are new "isms" often used in discussing American politics. Maybe you have even had discussions where you used or heard words like communism, totalitarianism, or anarchism...there are so many "isms!" These "isms" often capture sets of beliefs that people have about the relationship between society and the power and authority of government. Please join Nayda-Pares Kane, Professor of Sociology, Joe Scanlon, Professor of Political Science, and Professor Louis Andolino, Political Science to unravel the mysteries of the "isms" common to American politics. Learn what they really mean and their significance to society and American politics.
This is a very important time in our lives and we to listen, learn and ask questions. Download the attached flyer.
