Nursing Faculty Win Honorable Mention in Bayada Award Competition

Audrey Bopp, assistant professor, and Pamela Korte, associate professor, in MCC's Department of Nursing received an honorable mention for the Drexel University 2004 Bayada Award for Technological Innovation in Nursing Education and Practice.  Their entry was entitled "Computerized Student Assessment System" and described the use of handheld computer technology in assessment of nursing students.  There were 40 entries with one winner and four entries were chosen for honorable mention.  Theirs was the only winning entry from a community college.

In selecting the winners, the judges considered the technology's innovativeness and its impact on 1) enhancing the clinical competency of students in the educational process, 2) improving the quality of patient care, 3) improving the efficiency of delivering patient care and 4) preventing errors in patient care.
