The TCC Invites You to Join a Reflective Practice Group for 2020-21

Metacognition and experiential learning are processes that we know benefit students and increase their success in their courses. They are no less important processes for us as educators and professionals, too, and help us throughout our careers. Combine the two concepts, and engage with them in a deliberate, structured, and supportive environment, and we have something called reflective practice. Reflective Practice Groups are a nationwide professional development model linked to improved student learning outcomes.

Reflective practice undergirds much of the Teaching and Creativity Center's approach to professional development. A Reflective Practice Group helps you reflect critically about your teaching/professional work among friends. RPGs are led by colleagues who are trained facilitators and use structured protocols to look at curriculum, teaching dilemmas, student work, peer observations, and pivotal moments so that participants can provide each other with specific and actionable feedback.

Three RPGs will run this year, and for the fall semester (at least) will take place remotely, on Zoom.

If you are interested in joining one, please contact any of the facilitators listed. We think you will find that in these difficult, unnerving times, belonging to an RPG is not only something to do for annual faculty development, but is an act of self-care.
