SUNY Vice Chancellor Miller Invites Dr. Mary Ann DeMario to Present Her Research on Student-Parents

At the personal invitation of SUNY Vice Chancellor Jennifer Miller, Dr. Mary Ann M. DeMario (Institutional Research) presented her research on Student-Parents in early September. The presentation, via Zoom, was for the nine SUNY community colleges who received the SUNY Family Empowerment Pilot Community College Pilot Program grant.

The Family Empowerment program was created by Governor Cuomo to help SUNY and CUNY community colleges better support their single parents, a subgroup of Student-Parents. It is designed to provide a comprehensive system of supports for single parents including priority on-campus childcare.

Mary Ann's research that showed that campus-based child care helps Student-Parents succeed was the basis for the Pilot Program.
