Passing of Retired Administrator Donald Nickason

I am saddened to share the news of the passing of Donald C. Nickason, a retired associate vice president of Administrative Affairs and a World War II veteran, on December 9, 2015 at age 91.

After joining MCC in 1963 as an assistant manager in the Business Office, Donald was quickly promoted to business manager – the first of several promotions he would receive throughout his MCC career.

In 1969, he was named associate dean of Finance/Administrative Affairs and served in that role for the next 15 years. During that time, he held the rank of associate professor and eventually professor. In 1984, he was promoted to associate vice president of Administrative Affairs before retiring in 1988.

His contributions to the college included serving on the Twentieth Anniversary Celebration committee and the United Way campaign committee.

Donald is survived by Joan, his wife of over 61 years; five children; and six grandchildren. His son Greg Nickason works at MCC as interim supervisor of Grounds in the Facilities Department.

According to his family, memorial services will be held at a later time.

If you wish to share a memory of Donald or send  a condolence to his family, you may send it to Greg at: 1083 Larkston Drive, Webster, NY 14580.
