Three Administrative Services Members Receive Employee Award

Pictured below are the administrative services 3rd quarter winners for “Diligence and Conscientious Performance” beyond the call of duty; Kathy Wiener, Rose Selvaggio and Mary Nolan.

Kathy Wiener and Mary Nolan work in the Bursar’s office and they were faced with an unexpected challenge this past summer. Of the four Bursar staff members, two were out on extended medical leave: one planned the other unexpected.  This left two people to do the work of four.  Late summer is one of the busiest times for the Bursar’s office, Fall tuition is due, drop for non-payment occurs, summer semester follow-up billing happens, and preparations are made for fiscal year-end tasks.  Kathy and Mary both worked tirelessly to make sure students were served in a customer friendly manner, payments were applied, phones were answered and the walk-up traffic was attended to, operations of the Bursar’s office went smoothly because of their efforts.

Rose Selvaggio, Building Services, is the third recipient that went beyond the call of duty.  As you all know, the Wolk building was commissioned at the end of summer along with major modifications to building 9.  As described by Fred McCullough, Building Services, this was a real “crunch” time for his staff.  New “challenges” were discovered daily during the last two weeks of August.  To help us overcome those challenges, Rose pushed through her regular work and went above and beyond the call of duty to prepare building 9 for commissioning.  She spent much time and special effort in guiding crews, interfacing with clients, and suffering through Fred’s e-mails to get the job done, she cancelled vacation days, phoned during her time off and on week-ends to coordinate work.

Congratulations to Kathy, Mary and Rose, just three of the colleges’ many assets—people who go that extra mile whatever the obstacle.

Heze Simmons, vice president, presented awards at the division’s professional development event on Friday, November 14, 2008.
