Anne Barker (Child Care Center) and Mary Ann M. DeMario (IR) Present at National Conference

On March 29, Anne Barker (MCC's Richard M. Guon Child Care Center) and Mary Ann M. DeMario (Institutional Research) presented at the National Coalition for Campus Children's Centers conference in Hilton Head, SC. Their presentation was titled "Campus Child Care = Parent Success."

Anne presented information on the child care center's history, partnerships, funding, subsidies for low-income student families, and dedication to helping parents using the center be successful college students.

Mary Ann presented her research on MCC students who are parents and how they compare to non-parents, specifically regarding their demographic and academic characteristics, academic outcomes, and barriers to success.

Innovative research on MCC students who are parents and the college's community partnerships have led to the Education Design Lab selecting MCC as one of four community colleges nationwide to participate in the Single Moms Success Design Challenge.

Anne and Mary Ann will be presenting together again in June at the 2019 SUNY Early Education Conference in Saratoga Springs, NY.
