Millions of Years in the Making! The Geology of NYS is back!

Geology of New York State--a course that was last offered at MCC over thirty years ago--is now scheduled to begin this Spring Semester (2020)!

GEO-295, Field Studies in the Geosciences -Geology of NYS, is a late-start, natural-science elective and begins on Thursday March 5th, 2020. Thereafter, the lecture meets once a week on Thursdays from 1:00-4:50pm.

There will be two field excursions requiring overnight travel. The first trip takes part over the weekend of May 9th and studies geologic points of interest in the Southern Tier, down to Allegany State Park, and then back up to the Niagara River. The second trip occurs at the end of the spring semester, traveling downstate for six-days into the Mohawk Valley. The second trip will also visit points-of-interest in the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains and through the Finger Lakes region.

Informational meetings will be held on Thursday, October 31st at 2:00pm in 11-309 and Friday, November 8th at noon in 11-309.

Please announce this unique opportunity to students and contact me if you have any questions. This course is open to audits.
