MCC Retiree Pilar Vilar-Glasow Passes

MCC retiree Pilar Vilar-Glasow passed away on Friday, April 12.

Mrs. Vilar-Glasow retired from MCC in 1993 as an associate professor in the English for Speakers of Other Languages Department. She began her MCC employment in the early 1970s as a clerk typist and language laboratory manager in the Foreign Languages Department, and as an academic advisor.

Mrs. Vilar-Glasow and her ESOL colleagues Suzanne El-Rayess and Elizabeth Neureiter-Seeley were the first MCC employees to earn Innovation of the Year honors in 1995 for their work with computer assisted language learning. She would also help found the International Club for students and serve as its advisor.

Mrs. Vilar-Glasow was active in the community, serving as president of the Council for Hispanic Affairs and on the WXXI Board of Trustees.

Arrangements for Associate Professor Vilar-Glasow are unknown at this time, but will be shared in the MCC Daily Tribune as soon as they become available.
