MCC Hosts the Finger Lakes STEM Hub's Fall Forum.

On Tuesday, November 27th the Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services (EDIWS) division hosted and sponsored the second annual Finger Lakes Regional STEM Hub Fall Forum. This year's forum was titled Building the STEM Pipeline Through Technical Skills Training. In attendance was Wade Norwood, local representative to the New York State Board of Regents, who introduced the keynote speaker, New York State Commissioner of Education, MaryEllen Elia.

Commissioner Elia praised the work of Monroe Community College in the area of Career Technical Education (CTE) and shared information of new statewide accountability measures that include CTE certification in secondary schools throughout the state.

EDIWS Vice President, Dr. Todd Oldham presented newly released MCC student labor market outcomes data demonstrating opportunities and earnings for prospective students interested in technical career pathways linked to programs offered at MCC.

Additional panel discussions included representatives from Monroe 2 - Orleans BOCES, WXXI, area P-TECH programs, Corning Fairport, and the Phelps Library. Approximately 80 people attended this year's event.
