Courses are Moving to Brightspace this Fall!

Faculty, if you are teaching a fall course, look for your course shells in Brightspace. Blackboard is being decommissioned on December 21, 2022 and our new home is D2L’s Brightspace. Every academic course will have a Brightspace shell for fall term courses and beyond. All Blackboard organizations will remain in myMCC/Blackboard through December 21, 2022. 

To access Brightspace directly, go to mylearning.monroecc.edu and log in with your MCC credentials or you can visit Brightspace through the new myMCC portal at mymcc.monroecc.edu and click on the “Brightspace” tile. Once inside Brightspace, your courses will be shown on the institution homepage in “My Courses”. 

We have placed a new banner in myMCC/Blackboard in the Employees tab->My Courses to redirect faculty to Brightspace as a reminder that you will no longer see course shells in Blackboard for the fall term. We have had 400 faculty users access their Brightspace account so far!  If you are a faculty member and plan to teach in the future, please log in and familiarize yourself with the new system if you have not done so. 

Here are several resources to help you with the transition: 

  • The Brightspace Transition Guide provides step by step instructions to login and find your course shells and then transfer and cleanup materials as needed. 
  • Take the Asynchronous Training Modules designed by SUNY once you login to Brightspace or attend live SUNY training to give you an idea on how to use the new system
  • Watch a recording of the Virtual Campus’ Getting Started with Migration if you need to see how to login and get started, how to move your content from Blackboard, and how to clean up your course. 
  • Once you get comfortable with Brightspace, refer to Brightspace’s Quick Start Guide for Instructors to learn how to manage some of the regular tasks like email, creating announcements, and engaging with students.

  • July 25th, 9am-4pm, Virtual Campus Training Room, 3-122
