Weekly COVID-19 Cases & Testing Update

Thank you for taking care of yourself and protecting others from COVID-19 by wearing masks inside MCC buildings regardless of your vaccination status. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Monroe County is a high transmission area; therefore, continue to wear a mask in public, indoor settings. A CDC guide on how to safely wear and take off your mask is attached to this article.

Starting today, weekly COVID-19 updates will be shared on Fridays for the remainder of the fall semester.

MCC testing results for Sept. 20-23 are as follows:

  • 4 positive cases were identified through pooled testing.
  • 3 students are in precautionary quarantine off campus.
  • 2 students are in mandatory quarantine; one student is on campus.
  • 11 students are isolating off campus.
  • 1 student is isolating on campus.
  • MCC’s overall on-campus positivity rate: 0.19%

Upcoming Pooled Testing Sessions: Monday, Sept. 27 and Tuesday, Sept. 28
Students, faculty and staff who are unvaccinated are required to test weekly for COVID-19. (Testing is optional for individuals who are vaccinated.) MCC will offer free pooled testing sessions 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, September 27 and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 28 in the Flynn Campus Center, starting in the Forum (3-130). No appointment necessary.

Vaccination is the best and most effective tool we have against COVID-19.

  • Vaccination is free, safe and it works (SUNY Know Your Vax site).
  • SUNY and MCC encourage you to get vaccinated to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Vaccination is not required to teach and work in person. Submitting verification of vaccination is voluntary for employees (Faculty & Staff Resources & FAQs).
  • The Monroe County COVID-19 Vaccine site is open daily from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 2:00 to 4:30 pm on Friday at the Downtown Campus. Visit Monroe County’s vaccine web site for more information on this and other sites and to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed.

Updates will be posted on our website. Send your questions to covid19response@monroecc.edu.
