Lovenheim Article Published in Jewish Ledger

"An Offering: Studing the Shoah in Israel," an article by Barbara Lovenheim, English/Philosophy, was published in the Sept. 16 issue of the Jewish Ledger. The article is a reflection on Lovenheim's journey to Yad Vashem's summer institute in Israel where she shared ideas and learned from teachers, administrators, graduate students and community leaders from the U.S. and 10 other countries. Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority, was established in 1953 by an act of the Israeli Knesset. It places a heavy emphasis on educating younger generations about the Holocaust and includes archives, a museum, a research institute and the International School for Holocaust Studies.

Within the article, Lovenheim also announced a new MCC course "ENG 106: Literature of the Holocaust," that she began teaching this semester.
