TCC: Tip of the Day - My students won't turn on their cameras!
Thank you to Alice Wilson from the Library for sharing this:
With Zoom-enhanced remote learning, students are letting their professors and classmates into their living spaces. This may make some students feel vulnerable to perceived judgement, especially if they're living in poverty or have difficult circumstances at home.
Virtual backgrounds are a fun way to help students stay connected, while allowing them to hide whatever they might want to keep private.
We've compiled images of the MCC Libraries for students to use as backgrounds: https://libguides.monroecc.edu/blog/Zoom-backgrounds. Other places to find free images are Unsplash (https://unsplash.com/collections/1887152/zoom-backgrounds) and Canva
(https://www.canva.com/templates/search/zoom-virtual-backgrounds).
Once they've saved their favorite image(s), they can sign into their MCC Zoom account and follow these instruction for using virtual backgrounds: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/210707503-Virtual-Background
