The Holy Month of Ramadan

Many students, staff and faculty who practice the Muslim faith are observing the Holy Month of Ramadan. Observation began the evening of Thursday, April 23, and will continue through Saturday, May 23.

The month concludes with Eid al-Fitr, the celebration at the end of the 30 days of fasting.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from food and drink from sun up to sun down. The dates of Ramadan rotate each year depending on the Islamic calendar.

This year Ramadan falls during MCC's final weeks of school and through the final exam period. The length of each daily fast will last up to 16 hours. At sunset, they break their fast with an Iftar dinner and then begin the fast again the next day at sunrise.

Here are some ways we can support our students this month.
