Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is here!

If you have not already enrolled in MFA, starting today you will be led through those steps when you go to Microsoft 365, which includes Teams and other Microsoft apps in Office.com, as well as student email.

Need a hand?

  • As always, you can call the Employee Technology Support Center at 292-TECH (8324), option 3, Mon – Fri 8:45am – 4:45pm. On Monday and Tuesday this week we will take calls starting at 8am.

  • Also this week, we will have an open MFA question/answer Zoom Room where you can get assistance:
    Monday - Wednesday 10am-NOON and 1pm-3pm
    Friday 10am-NOON

What will happen when I am led to enroll in MFA?

  • When prompted to enroll, you will be directed to your signon page and presented with options including authentication app, phone (call or text) and office phone. The recommended option is to select authentication app and the Microsoft Authenticator app (with notifications) on your mobile device, because that will provide the easiest and most secure method for MFA confirmation when you sign onto MCC systems. Note that you will need to be at the same location as the device (mobile phone, office phone, home phone) for authentication to work.

How do I use MFA once I am enrolled?

  • Once enrolled in the Microsoft Authenticator app and notifications, when you sign into a Microsoft 365 application you will get an MFA notification on your mobile device that you will click on to “approve” access. (You will have to unlock your phone screen to do this.) It's that simple.

What's next?

  • This is the first step in the MFA rollout with additional resources being added each week (e.g., Banner, myMCC, Blackboard) until all are covered by this extra security. The sooner you enroll, the less likely you will experience any disruption in your regular workday.
