MCC Foundation's 20th Annual Gold Star Gala Wins SUNYCUAD Best in Category

Each year, the SUNY Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) presents Awards for Excellence to recognize the best creative efforts throughout the SUNY system. This year, the MCC Foundation's 20th Annual Gold Star Gala won Best in Category in the Fundraising Events category. Cleverly named the Gold Star Intergalactic Planetary Ambassadors Ball presented by M&T Bank, the gala took place at the Country Club of Rochester on Saturday, April 28, 2018. The event was a great success thanks to the combined efforts of many generous supporters and our own MCC family.

When guests arrived to the spaceport, they marveled at artwork featuring intergalactic travel destinations created by Professor Kathy Farrell's imaginative students. Guests enjoyed performances by talented MCC student musicians arranged by Associate Professor John Nyerges. The MCC's Facilities Department, led by Doug Ford, were our very own Starfleet, transforming the Country Club of Rochester into an unearthly place - hardly recognizable! Before sitting down for dinner, guests traveled through a vortex designed by Doug Ford that left guests in complete awe. The event's Scholarship Call was inspired by a touching video created by Bailey Burritt and Jeremy Case. The talents of MCC were on full display at the Gala, and our peers at SUNYCUAD were clearly impressed!

The Gold Star Gala raised over $290,000 (net) in important unrestricted funds for the operation of the Foundation as well as vital scholarship support for deserving students. Our sincere thanks go out to all those who helped to make the Gala a success, and helped achieve this recognition.
