Vice President Glocker Interviewed Regarding Students from China

Vice President Janet Glocker, Ph.D., Academic Services, was interviewed by WHAM-1180’s Randy Gorbman regarding three students from China who will be attending MCC during the upcoming academic year. The interview was in response to Governor Paterson’s announcement on July 31 that 22 SUNY campuses were opening their doors to 150 Chinese undergraduates from the Sichuan Province, site of a massive earthquake this spring.

Vice President Glocker emphasized how MCC students will benefit from having the three students on campus, making them true participants in our global society.

The students will study for two semesters as full-time students at MCC The goal of the program is to build a team of young leaders based on their common experiences in the U.S. When they return to China, the students will help re-build the local economy and infrastructure in the region the earthquake impacted. Each student has committed to return to China upon completion of the program and serve in the Sichuan rebuilding effort.
