Updates on Employee Compliance

Thank you for all you are doing to protect yourselves and our students from the coronavirus and its variants! Your efforts are key to MCC educating and serving students in person, while keeping our on-campus positivity rate as low as possible (0.19% as of October 15).

My thanks go to the more than 800 MCC colleagues who have voluntarily verified that they are vaccinated, as of October 13.

Human Resources has begun directly notifying colleagues who have not voluntarily verified vaccination or are not fulfilling the weekly testing requirement.

Remember, testing weekly is required if you:

  • are unvaccinated, or
  • choose not to verify your vaccination* with HR, and
  • come to campus—frequently or infrequently—for any reason.

You may participate in weekly pooled testing at MCC or send negative test results from another provider to Kristin Lowe (klowe5@monroecc.edu).

Once you voluntarily verify vaccination with HR, testing is optional. Submitting verification takes only a few minutes—an MCC Daily Tribune article explains the process—and all information is kept confidential and stored separately from personnel files.

MCC data on employees’ compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols as of the week ending Oct. 13 are as follows:

  • 806 employees are in compliance because they voluntarily submitted proof of vaccination via the Employee Vaccine Verification form.
  • 55 employees are in compliance because they participated in weekly pooled testing on campus.

As of October 14, 410 employees have not submitted proof of vaccination and did not participate in pooled testing. HR is working with departments/offices across the College to understand why and bring individuals into compliance. For example, we learned that:

  • Some part-time temporary employees (included in the 410 figure) were unable to access the Employee Vaccine Verification form. This issue has been resolved.
  • Some individuals are unable to participate in weekly testing because they are within 90 days of their recovery from COVID-19. They will be removed from our reporting as not in compliance.
  • Some faculty/adjunct faculty members teaching fully remote or online courses this semester are qualified to submit an attestation that they will not have a physical presence at MCC or any SUNY facility unless they are in compliance. An attestation form will be made available soon, similar to the one completed by fully remote or online students. Eventually, these employees will be removed from our reporting as not in compliance.
  • Some employees are on leaves of absence. They will be excluded from COVID-19 compliance reporting. Prior to their return to in-person work, they will be required to submit proof of full vaccination or participate in weekly testing.

Your contributions to our College and community are appreciated and inspiring. Much work has been done, and there is more to do. Getting vaccinated, monitoring your personal health, and testing weekly if you are unvaccinated are key to MCC’s ability to continue safely offering in-person learning and services.
