Serving for Veteran's Day


Rochester AmeriCorps members served their community in multiple ways this Veteran’s Day. On Monday, a group of members supported the Visual Studies Workshop by organizing exhibits and collections in order to aid the organization better execute its goal of educating the community.

On Veteran’s Day, select members served the morning at Foodlink to assist the BackPack Program, which provides school children with nutritious food during weekends and school breaks. Later in the day, AmeriCorps had a film showing and discussion of
The Interrupters, a documentary about three violence interrupters in Chicago who try to protect their community from violence. During the discussion, members shared ways they see violence influencing the local community and spoke about how they can disrupt this violence through their service.
