Kudos to Mary Mendez Rizzo, counselor, DCC Student Services, who has been selected to serve on the steering committee for United Way's Hispanic Leadership Development Program.
HLDP is an award-winning development program that identifies, trains, and promotes the placement of Hispanics in policy-making decisions of community organizations. HLDP strives to encourage community awareness, leadership, and networking in the local Hispanic community. The curriculum for the program includes topics on communication, leadership, decision-making, conflict resolution, and board membership responsibilities. As part of the training sessions, participants are required to complete field projects in which they make recommendations for actual challenges facing selected not-for-profit agencies in the greater Rochester area. Mary will begin serving in her role in January.
