MCC Board of Trustees Chair Barbara Lovenheim to Receive AAUA Trustee Leadership Award

Dear MCC Community,

Please join me in congratulating MCC Board of Trustees Chair and Professor Emerita Barbara P. Lovenheim, Ph.D. as the recipient of the American Association of University Administrators’ (AAUA) 2021 Dan L. King Award for Outstanding College and University Trustee Leadership (two-year institutions category). The award will be presented virtually at the AAUA’s Leadership Seminar in June 2021.

This award is given to a college or university board member whose service exemplifies commitment to higher education and who demonstrates the highest ethical standards in providing leadership from the trustee-level.

MCC is grateful for Dr. Lovenheim’s leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to the power of higher education to transform lives. She has led with distinction throughout her decades-long professional career in higher education—serving as a professor of English/Philosophy for 17 years and then as a gubernatorial appointee to the Board of Trustees since 2012, the last four years serving as board chair.

Under Dr. Lovenheim’s leadership, MCC has celebrated many successes, such as Guided Pathways implementation, the historic Every Bright Future Needs a Strong Foundation campaign, and our recent Presidential Search.

Dr. Lovenheim’s leadership has had a significant and lasting impact on both MCC and our community. We are excited that her contributions are also recognized at the national level.
