Monshipour Discusses "Silk Road," Culture, History in Radio Program

Broadcaster Bob Smith interviewed Assistant Professor Shahin Monshipour about an upcoming event at MCC during the first hour of WXXI’s “1370 Connection” call-in radio program on Monday, April 12. Monshipour promoted “Along the Silk Road,” which will be held Thursday, April 15, and will showcase the richness of diversity of cultures and ethnic groups in the Rochester community. Highlights of the event include original music by MCC students, specially choreographed dances by a Canadian dance troupe and a talk by an internationally renowned Washington University professor and literary figure. Monshipour is spearheading the event in collaboration with the MCC Diversity Council, the college community, area students and ethnic community members. It starts at 6 p.m. in the MCC Theatre.

In the radio program, Monshipour, an Iranian expatriate and scholar in sociology and anthropology, also shared her perspectives on her homeland's history, politics and culture.
