MCC Daily Tribune

Securing Confidential Information in the MCC Daily Tribune

A new feature of the MCC Daily Tribune is the ability to password-protect attachments. If you have information to share with the college community--but not with the general public*--your attachment can be made accessible to employees only, via their MCC username and password.

Here's how:

  1. Complete the MCC Daily Tribune submission form.
  2. Click the check box under "Attachments" that is labelled "Internal only; employees must log in to view."
  3. Click the "Attach File(s)" button.
  4. Follow the form's instructions to attach your document (in PDF, JPG, GIF or PNG format only).
    1. Step 1: Browse for file
    2. Step 2: Load file
    3. Step 3: Click Finish
  5. Submit the Tribune form.

Because your submission can be edited, you can remove or add password protection at any time. However, you must attach the files again if you change an attachment's password protection status.

Note that password-protected attachments are not available in the Student Tribune or Events Calendar.

Please include basic non-confidential information in the message section of your Tribune post. We recommend that you share enough information in the message section so that readers can assess whether or not to open the attachment.

This functionality was developed primarily to maintain the confidentiality of applicants for MCC positions. As you know, the College holds open forums with candidates for certain positions and shares candidates' names and bios via the MCC Daily Tribune prior to the forum. *Because the MCC Daily Tribune is web-based, its content can be found online, something job candidates have expressed concerns about in the past. While the impetus for the new feature is to maintain confidentiality of job searches, submitters to the MCC Daily Tribune may use password-protection for any attachment they wish.
