Check out what's happening with the MCC APPLIED Title III Grant

In the fall of 2019, MCCs application to obtain Title III grant funding was accepted, and MCC APPLIED began.

Since that time, many changes have occurred both at the college, and globally. One thing that has not changed is MCCs commitment to supporting the goals and objectives of MCC APPLIED.

What you need to know about MCC APPLIED:
(Advancing Pathways for Partnerships in Learning through Integration of Education and Data)

Through the implementation of INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY, created and supported by MCC employees working collaboratively in cross divisional workgroups alongside the Title III staff, MCC APPLIED will:

  • Decrease student loan default rates. MCC APPLIED will implement integrated Enhanced Academic Plans which include individualized career and financial plans along with the promotion of financial literacy.
  • Increase Credential Completion. MCC APPLIED aims to increase college level math and English completion, encourage active career pathway confirmation, and engage high impact practices through providing holistic supports and intrusive coaching.

Over the course of the next four years, MCC APPLIED will measure its success by looking at progress toward the following objectives:

  • Increase the number of students with a documented enhanced academic plan to 50%
  • Increase the number of students with a documented career plan to 40%
  • Increase the number of students with a documented financial plan to 20%
  • Increase participation in a variety of student success supports by 30%
  • Increase first year completion of college level math and English by 10%
  • Increase persistence for all students by 5%
  • Increase persistence for under-represented minority students by 5%
  • Increase persistence for first-generation students by 5%
  • Increase enrollment in pathways that lead to in-demand careers by 10%
  • Decrease the 3-year student loan default rate by 3%

The Title III office thanks the workgroup members, Student Success Committee members, grants office, controller's office, Academic Services team, and the college community as a whole for its continued support toward the completion of our goals.

As year two of the grant cycle begins, the work for these teams is going to increase exponentially. The outcome of that work- increased success for our students, is what makes it all worth it. At the end of the day, that is why we are all here!

Moving forward, be sure to keep the work of Title III in mind. If you or someone you know is working on a technology-based solution for student success and/or any general student support service, be sure to ask yourself "How can Title III play a role in this initiative?". If there is a way Title III can support that initiative, be sure to reach out to Elizabeth Baxter, Title III APPLIED Program Director at ebaxter4@monroecc.edu.
