Local Magazine Promotes Access for Learners Ages 55 and Older

Christine Casalinuovo-Adams, associate vice president of Enrollment Management, is quoted in a 55-Plus Magazine article about virtual and in-person learning opportunities available for individuals ages 55 and over amid the pandemic.

MCC welcomes on average 150 learners in the 55-plus age group every semester. Top areas of interest for these individuals are foreign languages and music/arts, followed by computer-related curriculum, anthropology/history, English, geography and business.

In fall 2020, 62 percent of the learners in the 55-plus age group took classes online. "With various distance-learning options available to match different learning styles, needs and preferences, MCC is ready to help learners successfully navigate the virtual world," Casalinuovo-Adams said in the article.

The article also promotes two MCC resources: Student Technology Help Desk (292-TECH), a one-stop source to assist participants with connecting to and using MCC technologies; and the “How to Zoom 101” video.
