French Interviewed About Female Student Enrollment in Applied Technologies Programs

A WXXI News radio report that aired Oct. 2 focused on what MCC is doing to encourage women to enroll in our Applied Technologies and other trades programs.

Kevin French, chair of the Applied Technologies Department, spoke about MCC’s recruiting efforts, how we use female role models to talk with prospective students, and how we have used the Vanguard Award program (sponsored by the Nontraditional Employment & Training Program at the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society, University at Albany) to highlight some of our female students at ATC.

Bonnie Livermore, a student in MCC’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program, was also interviewed for the report.

Data from Institutional Research shows that the number of female students enrolled in programs at the Applied Technologies Center in fall 2014 is 4.3 percent.
