Upward Bound Event Garners Media Coverage
On Saturday, the second annual Police & Teen Talent Slam brought together Rochester City School District students and Rochester Police Department officers in a talent show that emphasized collaboration and teamwork.
The talent show was supported through an $800 grant award from the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence to students in the Upward Bound program at MCC. Students developed the vision for the talent show as a fun, safe venue to foster peace and trust in the community.
WROC-TV covered the event featuring slam poets, singers, dancers and musicians. Paul Stack, event coordinator, was interviewed about the event's goal.
