Wellness Wednesday

Now that we are in our third full week at home, the Wellness Council has a new weekly dose of humor, fun and health tips.

This week's humor comes from Julianna Frisch and this adorable dog video, The Pets Will Thrive! Julianna shared that one of her favorite things about virtual meetings is that she gets to see her colleague's furry friends. Do you have a funny video you want to share with us? Help us promote health by humor by sending a funny video that has brought a smile to your face during this challenging time to MCCWellness@monroecc.edu. Include a sentence as to why this video was meaningful to you. We will feature one video a week during our Wellness Wednesday!

If you celebrate Easter and plan on decorating eggs, have you ever tried using everyday food items instead of food coloring? Try frozen blueberries, paprika, red onion, spinach, or turmeric. Post your creative eggs on Facebook for others to admire! Use hashtag #BeWellMCC.

After the eggs have been found, what are you gong to do with them? Did you know there are many health benefits of eating eggs? Here are a few we found.

Another health tip - consider taking a break every 30 minutes. Leave your workstation, stretch, walk to another room, take a step outside and get some fresh air, these all will help clear your mind. Also, consider having healthy snack in the morning and afternoon, and consider filling your water bottle up at least twice during the day.

Now do we have a fun project for you! We are looking for you to help us make an MCC Rock Garden. Have you been on walks and seen a bunch of rocks? Do you have some in your yard that you are willing to part with? Want to send the kids on a scavenger hunt to find some? Wherever you find them, pick them up and bring them home. Clean and dry them off, brush some paint on them, add an inspirational message, let them dry and put them in a safe spot.

Once we return to campus, The MCC Wellness Council will host a celebration where you can bring your decorated rocks to our official "MCC Rocks" Garden. At the celebration we will spray sealant on everyone's rocks so that they can withstand the Rochester seasons and be enjoyed for years to come. Get the family involved. Post your rock photos on our Facebook page. Need some inspiration to get started, check out our MCC Rocks Pinterest Board.

Make sure to stay connected with us on Facebook and at our MCC Lib Guide at http://libguides.monroecc.edu/wellness.

Have a wonderful week!
