Passing of Daniel A. Barrows


I am saddened to report the passing of MCC Retiree Daniel A. Barrows. Dan began his career at the college in 1973. A graduate of Aquinas Institute and former Air Force sargeant, he earned his associate's degree here in 1978 and retired from  his position as a computer programmer in 1996. According to Millie Lewis, Dan was known for his quick wit as well as his "pearls of wisdom." He was even more widely recognized for his dedication to hockey. (See article link below)

Dan is survived by his wife Lauren; father-in-law Joseph D. DeLeo; brothers-in-law Don (Maxine) Deleo, Mark DeLeo; sister-in-law Lisa (Rick) Ossman; step-sisters Carmie (Doug) Schlenker, Patty DePalma; step-brother Joe (Judy) DiPalma; and aunt Helen Merisol as well as several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, many wonderful friends and his beloved pets Bob, Nelson and Morgan. He was predeceased by his parents Al Barrows and Marie DePalma; step-father Joseph DePalma; and mother-in-law Ruth E. DeLeo.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate a memorial service, Saturday, Nov. 17th, 1 p.m. at Gates Wesleyan Church, 2060 Long Pond Road. There are  no prior calling hours and interment will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to: Lauren Barrows, 47 Milliner Street, Rochester, NY 14611
. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aquinas Institute or RIT Athletic Association.
