Professor Finch Interviewed About Victim Advocate Training

In a WHEC-TV interview, Cristin Finch, professor in the Health and Physical Education Department, discussed the courses MCC offers to students and community residents that include the opportunity for certification in identifying and reporting suspected child abuse/maltreatment.

The interview was Channel 10's follow-up to a series of reports on criminal charges against a Hilton school principal. The segment aired April 16-17.

MCC offers "Issues in Child Development and Health" (HED 116) and "Foundations of Personal Health and Wellness" (HED 130) courses. HED 116 is a recommended elective for education students. All New York state-certified teachers must complete the training as part of the certification process.

Professor Finch is adjunct coordinator for HED 116 and works with the state Department of Education regarding  certification.

We are grateful for all that our faculty do to educate our community.

Many thanks to Dr. Eileen Radigan, chair of Department of Education and Human Services, and Douglas R. Henneberg, chair of the Health and Physical Education Department, for facilitating the interview.
