Reflections from Carmen Powers Legacy Lecture Honoree Bess Watts

Bess Watts is our next Carmen Powers Legacy Lecture honoree. After working in the Leroy V. Good Library for 27 years Bess retired in October 2019. During her time at the College Bess has been active in her department, the CSEA union, and the local LGBTQ community. Bess and her wife Anne were vocal proponents for legalization of same sex marriage and equality with much community support. Bess's involvement in the CSEA union, both at the local and state levels, gave her the platform to become a labor and human rights activist. Both of which she tells would not have been able to happen without the support of her department and Monroe Community College.

Attached is Bess's reflection of her time at MCC and why she is appreciative of all who work here and supported her.
