Inspiring from the Inside Out: Middle Management Meetings

Clearly and frequently communicating and engaging with you and our students is important—to me and to the College’s future. I hope it is important to you, too, as we set and achieve our shared, institutional goals.

On September 17, I convened our first Middle Management Meeting at the Downtown Campus to “inspire the way forward from the inside out.”

The Middle Management Meeting structure serves as an internal network of colleagues (those who report directly to a President’s Cabinet member) for the purposes of team building, strengthening communication, and leadership development. Members of this group are expected to:

  • openly and honestly share their unique perspectives;
  • contribute to discussions on topics designed to enhance MCC’s culture and effectiveness; and
  • facilitate the same with their direct reports.

Meetings will be held twice in the fall and spring and during the summer as needed. Agenda topics will be determined by me and Cabinet members, with input from meeting participants.

You can help identify ways to “innovate from the inside out” and support the success of Middle Management Meetings by directing your questions and ideas to your dean, Cabinet representative and/or me during my scheduled office hours, drop-in visits and fireside chats.

Speaking of fireside chats, join me at noon, today, October 20 to chat about what the phrase “innovate from the inside out” mean to you. The Zoom login information is available in a related MCC Daily Tribune article.
