MCC selected for New Learning Compact Institute
Monroe Community College is one of five colleges selected to participate in the New Learning Compact (NLC) Institute. NLC is a collaboration between Achieving the Dream (AtD), Every Learner Everywhere, Georgetown University, and the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. The NLC Framework seeks to advance effective use of professional learning and educational development to support learning-centered and equity-minded educational change.
The core team will include:
Michael Britton - Health and Physical Education
Amy Burtner - TCC and English/Philosophy
Kimberley Collins - Academic Services
Renee Dimino - SUNY GP and ESOL/Transitional Studies
Matthew Lawson - Orientation
Anjali Parasnis-Samar - Library
Kate Robinson - Instructional Design (VC)
Sherry Tshibangu - Business Administration/Economics
We are interested in adding others to an expanded team who will work with us to discuss the future of learning at MCC including:
- Evidence-based instructional practices
- Regular use of student learning data to inform faculty practice
- Collaboration between academic and student services to support student success
- Active learning in and outside of the classroom
- Intentionally structured educational experiences to ensure equity, accessibility, and relevance
- Personnel processes that prioritize teaching excellence
If you would like to participate in a workgroup that meets throughout this academic year to discuss these concerns, please send your interest to mlaspina@monroecc.edu by October 26, 2020.
