Top 10 Things to Know: MCC COVID-19 Response Update

  1. Your efforts to stay healthy and safe this semester are greatly appreciated, resulting in a low on-campus positivity rate of 0.17%.
  2. Students, faculty and staff who participate in MCC COVID-19 pooled testing now receive their results directly via email from Clarify/Quadrant Biosciences (sender email address: no-reply@mail.clarifi-covid-19.com). These emails are safe to open. Your results will also be available in the SUNY Upstate Medical website. Representatives of MCC Health Services staff and/or the Monroe County Department of Public Health will contact you only if your test result is positive for COVID-19.
  3. Starting today, April 12, in partnership with SUNY and the New York State Department of Health, a limited number of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine is now available for MCC resident students, student-athletes, and students who are 18 and come to campus for in-person classes and services. Please check the Student Tribune for more details.
  4. New Yorkers age 16 and older are eligible for a vaccine. If you are learning, teaching or working remotely, check the Am I Eligible site to confirm eligibility and to schedule an appointment.
  5. While SUNY and MCC strongly encourage you to get vaccinated to protect yourself, your family, and our community, you are not required to be vaccinated.
  6. Even after you have received the COVID-19 vaccine, you must continue to test and follow MCC health and safety protocols such as wearing face coverings, frequently washing hands, and socially distancing. The vaccine does not impact testing results.
  7. Asymptomatic and fully vaccinated domestic travelers arriving in New York state from other U.S. states and territories are not required to test or quarantine. Travelers are required to complete the NYS Traveler Form upon entering New York.
  8. MCC’s 2021 Virtual Commencement Ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20.
  9. Registration for Summer Sessions is now open; registration for Fall Semester 2021 classes begins on Monday, April 26 (recent article).
  10. Classes continue to be delivered in a variety of formats, including in person (traditional), online (SUNY Learning Network), remotely (Zoom), and hybrid as conditions permit.
