Quotes That Inspire

December brings snowflakes, holiday tidings, and an opportunity to reflect on the year that is drawing to a close. For many of us, saying goodbye to 2020 may well be the best thing about it. In my case, because it constitutes what will be the bulk of my time as an MCC employee, there are many elements I will choose to forever hold close to my professional heart while also preparing for MCC's new permanent president to arrive in 2021 and be successful for many years thereafter.

All of which brings to my mind this quote from T.S. Eliot, the American-born British poet, essayist, playwright, editor, and literary critic:

"For last year's words belong to last year's language and next year's words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning."

Leaving 2020 with its challenges behind as last year's language while holding onto the lessons learned as we await a new presidential voice in 2021 provides an appropriate end that also makes a new MCC beginning.

Happy holiday season to you and yours. Stay safe.

Is there a quote that reminds you about new beginnings at MCC? If so, please submit it along with a brief narrative about why the quote inspires you to PresOffice@monroecc.edu. "Quotes That Inspire" are shared with colleagues on Fridays in the MCC Daily Tribune.
