Ad Astra Platinum Analytics Master Schedule Grant

MCC is the co-lead institution for a SUNY performance improvement fund grant designed to improve student retention and completion through more efficient scheduling. The Platinum Analytics grant will run over the next two academic years using analytics software from Ad Astra. As Astra research found that traditional "roll-over" master schedules can lead to additional challenges for students who need specific schedules to complete their programs. The first step--currently underway--is for Ad Astra to analyze the past five years of MCC's enrollment patterns, student academic history, and degree audit system rules to forecast the number of seats and sections we should be offering for upcoming terms. This review will analyze the master schedule, room usage, and pathways sequencing to gage MCC's schedule against industry benchmarks to determine if class sections are over- or under-utilized and whether MCC's schedule is efficiently allowing for student completion in a timely fashion. MCC should have information for review by the Spring 2019. Team members include: Amy Ariola - Computing & Information Technology; Kimberley Collins and Kelsey Bright from Academic Services; Amanda Colosimo - Geosciences and Faculty Senate representative; Antonia Custodio - Associate Director, Downtown Campus Operations and Ad Astra Client Advisory Board Member; Kim McKinsey-Mabry - Dean of Community Engagement & Development; James Murphy - Biology Department Chair; Phil Oettinger - Learning Resources; Betsy Ripton - Registration & Records; and Holly Wynn-Preische - Advisement & Transfer.
